Although hada may not be functionally significant, it sure looks good. The polish on this sword is better than 80% of the production blades. Still not a full polish, but the polish lines do not overwhelm or hide the grain patterns in the steel. The burnish is regular. The hamon colour is a bit odd, greyish and not well-defined, but that's minor.

What is significant here is the shape of the blade. This is not the basic slab-sided generic pseudo-bizen shape of many Paul Chen production blades, or the larger, nicer but still compromise shape of the Cold Steel/Cicada Forge blades. Someone has put some thought and quality control into this sword. This blade has a nice shape, very smooth lines, a very nice regular transition in the fairly deep sori. The balance is good , it is not 'end-heavy' like some cutters. The blade thickness tapers a bit at the monouchi, then 'flares’ at the kissaki. The yokote is real , there is a geometry change that helps define the kissaki. The shape change at the monouchi means the blade is a bit narrower right where you cut, but lack of a bo-hi means it should still be strong. It feels very solid down by the tsuba and through the nakago. The balance closer to the hands mean it feels better for iai than many production cutters. Handle is fairly standard 'straight', but is a good and consistent thickness. Wrap is very tight. Fittings are plain and simple but tasteful. Habaki is brass, plain but well-shaped. Tsuba is a good size and thickness, not strangely shaped or oversize. Saya is plain black gloss, nicely done. Sageo is an awful nylon thing, easily replaceable.
